Introduction to Kilnformed Glass
THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGINS

The right start will make all the difference to your success.
We will teach you how to cut glass, and cover the basics of fusing, discuss how glass behaves at different temperatures in the kiln, and create projects that relate to these temperatures.
We will introduce you to different kinds of glass, such as irridized, collage, even dichroic glass to use in your projects.

This is a fun, hands-on class where the projects include, pendants, four 4 X 4 suncatchers or tiles and an 8 X 8 faux weave plate.

Glasses meet once a week for 4 weeks with a total of 10 classroom hours.  All materials, supplies, glass, instruction and firings are included in the class fee.  Tools will be provided for use during class times.

5 PROJECTS IN 5 WEEKS
Learn Multiple Techniques During The Course Of This Class
In this course you will make 5 complete bowls, platters or other objects all ranging from 8 to 12 inches. 

Coaster Sets: Make a set of 4 coasters using our selection of glass and frit which can be left flat or slumped into a mold.

Faux Weave:  This piece will have your friends asking, "How did you do that!"  You will arrange strips of glass in such a way as to have the appearance of a woven design.  Once fused, it can be slumped into a vase or a bowl form.

Puddle Stack Bowl: This is the best way to turn all those small pieces of glass into beautiful art work.  This project offers limitless possibilities. 

Scrappy Bowl:  This is another great way to turn your scrap glass into a great holiday gift.

A Creative Project: Using frit, powder and glass bits, you can create a one of a kind piece for displaying on a wall or a window.

12 hours of classroom work time.  Glass and supplies to complete the projects.  Use of necessary tools and kiln firing is included.  Free open workshop during the 5 week class period so that you can spend extra time working on your class projects.
You must know how to cut glass to take this class.  We offer a glass cutting class.

INDOOR CHIME  $40.00
2 hour class, materials included.  All elements pre-cut.  Make four pieces to fuse.  Make a hanger to dangle your fused pieces from.  Makes a beautiful suncatcher or mobil.

MAKING JEWELRY WITH GLASS   $ 75.00
5 hour class.  In two days, you will learn to make quick, wearable jewelry pieces using colored and dichroic glass.

STRIP WEAVE GLASS    $75
Using a strip cutter, we will cut consistent striop of iridized glass and then arrange them on a base to make a woven like design that can be slumped into a dish.

Okay, you've learned a lot in class with Fire & Light Glass, but now you want to play and put your skills to work. Open Glass Studio provides you with a working area and access to tools, saws, grinders etc. Open Studio provides limited instruction. Your creations can be fired and slumped here.  You may bring your own glass or purchase glass at the time of use. Ask about fees and times. Must have taken classes with us or provide proof of capability.

 Start with a blank 6 X 6 clear glass square

6 HOUR CLASS.  Cut strips of glass are double layered and arranged to create and old fashioned, grist mill design.  The glass is fused and slumped into a bowl shape.  $100.00
